How does an ion exchange water softener work?
The core of an electronic water softener is a resin cylinder: a plastic bottle filled with resin. This resin contains positively charged particles, also known as ion exchangers. The water entering the system flows through the resin cylinder at the same speed.
This involves exchanging the calcium and magnesium ions, which are responsible for the hardness of the water, with the positively charged ions in the synthetic resin.
Because the resin is positively charged and the limescale in the water is negatively charged, the limescale particles are attracted to and held in the resin. This way, the water softener ensures limescale-free water, resulting in benefits such as no limescale buildup and a longer lifespan for household appliances.
How do you know if a water softener is working?
You might be wondering: does a water softener really work? It's easy to find out for yourself.
Immediatelytest setyou can measure the hardness of the water that comes directly from your tap. With thetest setYou can test the hardness by adding drops of liquid to your tap water. If the water softener is functioning properly, it will turn green with the first drop.
Does a water softener really help?
A water softener removes limescale from the water, making it soft. Soft water offers several advantages, such as no limescale and softer skin and hair. So yes: a water softener is useful and really helps. It's important to choose a reliable water softener with a proven method, such as Remon's, which uses ion exchange.
Can you turn off a water softener?
You can turn off a water softener, but in most cases this isn't necessary, even if you're going on vacation for a short or long period.
At Remon Water Softeners, we take extra steps to keep your tap water safe. To prevent bacteria from forming in our water softeners, we've implemented the following:
• Periodic refresh regeneration
• Disinfection module
• Vacation mode
• Condensation reducing cover
This makes descaling water effortless and you don't have to worry about the effectiveness of the water softener, even when you switch it off temporarily.
