Replace Grohe Aquadimmer
In this example, we explain how to replace a Grohe Aquadimmer. The problem with this is often that the tabs that determine its position break off when tightening. This example shows how to prevent this.
Step 1
This is the Aquadimmer as it looks assembled. In this example, we're removing the copper-colored retainer. The white ring underneath is also removed.

Step 2
When the aquadimmer is out, it is the two black pins that determine and maintain the position of the aquadimmer

Step 3
The pins fit into the holes in the grommet in the faucet. The problem with installation is that these pins only just fit into the holes when the Aquadimmer is screwed in. If this isn't quite right, the pins can break, making the Aquadimmer unusable.

Step 4
With the locking pin removed, we can gently push the Aquadimmer's axle inward a little. This creates extra space to position the pins correctly.

Step 5
The pins are now fully seated in the holes in the feed-through, and because the Aquadimmer's axle is depressed, you still have room to turn the brass "nut" into the tap.

Step 6
By pressing the axle, the pins remain completely in the feed-through when tightening and cannot break or twist.

Step 7
Once you have fully tightened the brass "nut" the axle will be back in the position it should be in

Step 8
Now you can put the white ring back

Step 9
Finally, press the retainer back into place and the aquadimmer is replaced.
